Liz Scott is a personal chef and caterer specializing in nutritional and dietary needs for recovery from illness and disease, including alcohol and drug dependence. She is a graduate of New York University, the French Culinary Institute, and Villa Schifanoia in Florence, Italy. Liz has lived and worked extensively in Italy and England, and in America, she has worked as a private chef and consultant to celebrity clients as well as for numerous magazines and restaurants. Her personal battle with alcoholism and her dedication to the recovery community have led to new creative levels in her professional culinary career.

As a professional chef, Liz was concerned that her passion for food might be inextricably linked to alcohol, jeopardizing her sobriety. Upon learning that alcohol does not "burn off" in cooking and that its mere inclusion, even in small amounts, could pose a dangerous trigger to those in recovery, she made it her mission to not only transform the way she cooked, but to learn about the relevance of addiction science, nutrition, and the relationship between good food and a successful recovery. Her first cookbook, The Sober Kitchen: Recipes and Advice for a Lifetime of Sobriety, was the result.

Chef Liz is a coveted and engaging guest speaker and workshop instructor at conferences, cooking schools, and treatment centers across the country where she promotes public awareness of the disease of addiction and advocates for the availability of quality treatment. She is currently working on her next book about holiday entertaining and sober celebrations. She lives in Westfield, New Jersey with her favorite feline friend, "Baby."

For the millions of people who struggle to maintain a clean and sober lifestyle free from alcohol and drug dependence, practical and informative literature on cooking and eating in recovery has been virtually unavailable-until now. Containing vital information on basic nutrition, current addiction science, and realistic, down-to-earth advice, as well as more than 300 recipes, professional chef and recovering alcoholic Liz Scott serves up this ground-breaking cookbook to encourage and enhance a recovered lifestyle.
